Albrecht Dürer

Albrecht Dürer - Large Format Fine Art Prints and Reproductions

Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) was a German painter and engraver.

The unique personality of Dürer - first German artist who has known during his lifetime a reputation matching that of the greatest Italian and first northern Art theorist - introduced the Renaissance in the Northern Europe.

Dürer belongs to his time by his thirst of knowledge and universality, but he gives up nothing to the old Germanic background of spiritual anxiety and physical perfectibility. His art is a synthesis of northern traits (realism and fantasy) and a need to find through ancient models the perfection of a golden age of painting.
