Oscar-Claude Monet (14 November 1840 in Paris - December 5 1926 in Giverny) known as Claude Monet is a french artist-painter linked to Impressionist movement. In 1857, he sold his caricatures signed O. Monet in a shop specialized in supplies for painters, where also exposed Eugène Boudin. The encounter with Boudin was crucial to his artistic career, and he later said, "Thanks to Eugène Boudin I became a painter ". In 1862 he met Pierre-Auguste Renoir with whom he founded an art movement that was later called impressionism. He also befriended the painter Frederic Bazille with whom he had an important exchange of letters and who died in battle in 1870. Monet was particularly fond of painting controlled nature's: his own garden, its water lilies, pond and bridge. Monet was passionate about plants and had patiently constructed his garden over the years. He also painted the banks of the Seine.
